P2.8 Looking for filter defects/artifacts + Science detector calibrations repeat

  • Phase : 2
  • Status : Draft
  • Category : Daytime testing (functionality and operability) (C2)
  • Recurrence : once at commissioning
  • Duration : 2 days

Description

  • Finding the filter defects/artifacts using an internal calibration source (flat /on-axis PSF?) within the instrument.

Prerequisites

  • NCPA measurement (within SHARK-NIR bench using internal sources) available.

Procedure

  • Take the images of all the filters using the internal calibration source within the instrument to locate/find out the filter effects/artifacts.
  • You may take short- and long-exposures to get better contrast of the features if required.
  • Repeat the science calibrations below (some of these are performed when SHARK-NIR was in LBT cleanroom. Check P1.9) for details.
SDC1Instrumental background for science
SDC2Instrument flat field, detector linearity and bad pixels
SDC3Wavelength calibration
SDC4Thermal background
SDC5Detector gain
SDC6Detector persistence
SDC7Spectral resolution
SDC8Ghost calibration
  • Perform the working of this monitoring activity SNM1.

Success criteria

  • All the filter images saved.

Notes

  • The time dedicated to this activity has to be considered in combination with the next activity if needed. Parallelism is possible.

Comments

MB: I wonder why this needs to happen in this phase. I would say it could be done at any moment with internal sources, except of course for the dichroic / LBT mirrors [since we might need to apply the NCPA. after talking to EC and DV, I removed the use of RR / argos arm sicen it can all be done within shark-nir]
