P2.8 Looking for filter defects/effects/features + Science detector calibrations repeat

  • Phase : 2
  • Status : Draft
  • Category : Daytime testing (functionality and operability) (C2)
  • Recurrence : once at commissioning
  • Duration : 2 days

Description

  • Finding the filter defects/effects/features using different lamps within the instrument.
  • If required, this may be repeated for on-axis source from RR for selected or all filters while the AO loop is running (daytime)

Prerequisites

  • If relevant, estimate and remove the NCPA using the phase-diversity method.
  • RR mounted on SX side.

Procedure

  • Take the images of all the filters using different lamps within the instrument to locate/find out the filter effects/defects/features.
  • You may take short- and long-exposures to get better contrast of the features if required.
  • This may be repeated with the on-axis source from the RR with AO running to check for any extra features arriving from outside SHARK-NIR but from LBT mirrors or the deployable arm.
  • Repeat the science calibrations as done in P1.9.
  • Perform the working of this monitoring activity Filter wheels reproducibility monitoring.

Success criteria

  • All the filter images saved.

Notes

  • The time dedicated to this activity has to be considered in combination with the next activity if needed. Parallelism is possible.

LBTO support

  • Authorize SHARK-NIR on the SX side.
  • RR mounted on the SX side.
  • Support from LBT SW Team, LBTI/Arcetri team to run SOUL AO

Associated SHARK-NIR personnel

Date performed and by whom

Comments

MB: I wonder why this needs to happen in this phase. I would say it could be done at any moment with internal sources, except of course for the dichroic / LBT mirrors
