v19 v20 1 == P2.2 Instrument operability and functioning==1 == P2.2 Installation of SHARK-NIR and its electronics on the LBT platform== 2 2 3 3 - **Phase** : 2 4 4 - **Status** : Draft 5 - **Category** : Daytime testing (functionality and operability) (C3)6 - **Recurrence** : once after instrument installation at telescope platform7 - **Duration** : 1 day5 - **Category** : Installation of SHARK-NIR at LBT platform (C2) 6 - **Recurrence** : once (unless deemed necessary to remove SHARK-NIR from the telescope platform) 7 - **Duration** : 7 days (including 1 day contingency) 8 8 9 9 **Description** 10 - The functionality and operability of individual components/sub-systems are tested. Verification of the internal alignment of the instrument is performed using the light source within. The final step is the performance of the system. 10 - Aligned SHARK-NIR is prepared for the Big-Lift and installed on the LBT platform. 11 - Installation of the electronics in the cabinets, cabling, and confirming the safety & security of the instrument and area. 11 12 12 13 **Prerequisites** 13 - All electronics and services are up and running.14 - SHARK-NIR is aligned and ready for the lift-off. 14 15 15 16 **Procedure** 16 - Initialize all the motors/sub-systems. 17 - Check the functionality of all the motors (home position, named/nominal positions, and reaching software limits). 18 - Check the working of all the light sources. 19 - Using the on-axis diffraction-limited light source, check the internal alignment of the SHARK-NIR. 20 - Check the relative positions of the coronagraphic masks. 21 - Check for on-axis optical quality. 17 - Look at the AD3 document for the procedure and details. 22 18 23 19 **Templates** 24 20 25 21 **Success criteria** 26 - Motors and light sources are working as they should. 27 - The internal alignment is preserved. 28 - Performance of the system is acceptable. 22 - SHARK-NIR is successfully installed on the LBT platform. 23 - SHARK-NIR electronics are successfully installed. 24 - Telescope is balanced. 25 - Connect all the cables and secure them. 26 - Reassure all the connections, nuts, bolts, etc. 27 - Confirm the safety and security of the instrument and the area. 29 28 30 29 **Notes** 30 - Activities on High-bay and telescope. 31 - Note that SHARK-NIR is NOT installed as a single piece. The cryostat has to be disassembled from the bearing before the installation can start. Please look into the AD3 document for details. 32 - Note that one (or two) rack(s) of the SHARK-NIR electronics are installed within the LBTO electronics cabinets (shared with LBTI and iLocater). 33 - Input from Laura Funk (LBTO): Installation of the LBT work platform takes around 2 hours and of course also its removal. If the telescope installation is performed during the observing semester, carefully plan activities that can be completed so as not to interfere with handover for nighttime observations (~2 hours before sunset). 34 35 31 36 32 37 **LBTO support** 38 - Crew members' support for the preparation, lift-off, and installation of SHARK-NIR and its electronics 39 - Crane operator (cleanroom, mountain bay, LBT platform) 40 - Safety officer 41 - Working platform installed in front of the Gregorian focal-station SX 42 - Hatch door SX on the UIAP platform removed 43 - Support for the installation of electronics in the LBTO cabinet 44 - Kindly check the installation document, AD3, for more details 33 45 34 46 **Date performed and by whom** 47
