P2.2 Instrument operability and functioning

  • Phase : 2
  • Status : Draft
  • Category : Daytime testing (functionality and operability) (C3)
  • Recurrence : once after instrument installation at telescope platform
  • Duration : 2 days

Description

  • The functionality and operability of individual components/subsystems are tested. This is followed by the checking of the internal alignment of the instrument using the light source within. The final step is the performance of the system.

Prerequisites

  • All electronics and services up and running.

Procedure

  • Initialize all the motors/sub-systems.
  • Check the functionality of all the motors (home position, named/nominal positions, and reaching software limits).
  • Check the working of all the light sources.
  • Using the on-axis diffraction-limited light source, check the internal alignment of the SHARK-NIR.
  • Check of on-axis optical quality using phase diversity and of the relative positions of the coronagraphic masks.

Success criteria

  • Motors and light sources are working as they should.
  • The internal alignment is preserved.
  • Performance of the system is acceptable.
