P1.8 Verification of the internal alignment of the instrument

  • Phase : 1
  • Status : Draft
  • Category : Unpack, Assemble, and Verification (C1)
  • Recurrence : once
  • Duration : 4 days

Description

  • Check the internal alignment of the SHARK-NIR using the light sources within.

Prerequisites

  • SHARK-NIR connected to LBT network.
  • Electronics cabinets on.
  • The cryostat should be running and cooled down.

Procedure

  • Use the on-axis calibration fiber and checking if the PSF position on the scientific detector is consistent with the one recorded before shipping for multiple bearing angles. Perform Phase Diversity measurement to compare the retrieved aberrations on the on-axis PSF with the ones measured before shipping.
  • Check the pupil position at the detector and verify the consistency with the one before shipping.
  • Check the relative alignment of the coronographic masks.
  • Verify the contrast obtained for different sets of masks on the scientific camera and compare it with the values before shipping.
  • If necessary, re-align the optical bench internally (this is not anticipated, and the time above does not consider this).

Success criteria

  • The on-axis spot at the SCICAM is where it should be across the bearing rotation.
  • Use pupil images and compare.
  • PSF quality across (using in-focus and out-of-focus fibers).
  • Coronographic masks are co-aligned.

Notes

  • The 4 days mentioned here do NOT account for a complete re-alignment of SHARK-NIR, but only minor adjustments (which is what we expect).

Comments

  • LM: not sure this is the right place, but we also need to test the fast tip-tilt loop is working before Phase 2 starts. For the verification, I would consider 0.5 days
