  • Duration : 0.5 day

Description

  • Visual inspection of all the SHARK-NIR boxes at the LBT mountain bay.

Prerequisites

  • All the SHARK-NIR boxes should be at LBT mountain bay.

Procedure

  • Visually inspect if all the SHARK-NIR boxes at the LBT mountain bay are safe and secure.
  • Inspection of the state of tilt and shock sensors.
  • Check if there is any damage to any part of the shipment. If yes, note them, take photos, and communicate to the respective insurance party (if needed).

Templates

Success criteria

  • No damage to any boxes.
  • No shock or tilt sensors were activated (TBD).

Notes

  • See AD10 for more details.

LBTO support

  • Crane operator (mountain bay) to lift and move stuff (unlikely).
  • Forklift to move boxes.
  • 1-2 crew to support moving boxes.

Result

  • The scientific camera left on Monday 13th Padova and arrives Friday 17th at Steward Observatory. Work is ongoing over there and it will be brought to the mountain later this week by Manny and its team.
  • Instrument & its boxes left Padova on Friday 17th and arrived at Base-camp on Thursday 24th. A few of them (#6,#7) were transported right away to the summit, while the rest of the boxes reached the summit on Friday the 25th.
  • Brian and Chris inspected all boxes and -based on the pictures sent-, only up-down direction sensors were triggered on the pallet holding 4 boxes. Both 5G and 10G sensors located on box-13 (top of the pallet) were triggered, while only 5G sensor was triggered on the box located on box-16 (the one on the bottom of the pallet). This information was not reported in the acceptance paper of the shipment.
  • The content of the boxes of the pallet was visually inspected by the SHARK-NIR team on the summit and everything seems in order. However, we will make a functional test of the part contained in boxes 16, 11, and 12 (electronics, workstations) tomorrow (in principle), while for the boxes containing the spare parts (box-13) we will require a bit more time. Fingers crossed!
  • Box-7 was sent down the hill to be discharged, while Box-1 will be kept in storage at base camp.

Date performed and by whom

  • June 24th-27th
  • Brian, Chris, and other LBTO staff
  • Maria, Luca, Marco, Davide R.
