Description (last modified by mdepasca)

  1. Astrometry plate scale and orientation (SHARKNIR-CAL-SCI-01)
    • done for reference setup: does this means the instument setup has to be provided or that every time the template is run, a specific instrument setup is used? and that setup can be changed by modifying the ND filter (see user parameters in the document)?
    • missing prerequisites: target acquisition? meaning that before this template a template for target acquisition has to be run
    • prerequisite:
      • flat-field: instrument or telecope? or both?
  1. Flux calibration (off-centered target observation) (SHARKNIR-CAL-SCI-02)
    • missing prerequisite: target acquisition? meaning that before this template a template for target acquisition has to be run
    • prerequisite:
      • 0.5 arcsec offset both in RA and DEC?
      • DTTS offset: what DTTS stands for?
      • coronagraph, ND and filters: are all part of SHARK-NIR config? (which, in my understanding, is the setup for which the template is run)

Here my answers:

  1. according to me this is an observative template. I think that in general to this aim we could use the normal template for normal observations and there is no need for a different template. In any way, the user should have the possibility to select the appropriate observing mode (also the ND filter).

Before this template we of course need to do a target acquisition as this should work as a normal observation.
Flat field: the normal instrumental flat field should be needed. But this should be taken not during the observation.

  1. The flux calibration is done during an observing sequence before and after the coronagraphic observation. Of course a target acquisition has to be done before to do this as we need the star on the detector. But the acquisition should not be done by the template itself.

An offset of 0.5 total should be enough. However, if possible I would let the possibility to the user to choose the value in the OB
DTTS stay for differential tip-tilt sensor. It is the sensor that measure the tip-tilt of the star with respect to the detector (and to the coronagraph).
All the element that are listed are part of the instrument configuration. Also in this case the user should be able to select all them from the OB.
