== P3.3 Telescope control – telescope mode and offset == • **Phase** : 3 • **Status** : Draft • **Category** : Nighttime testing (functionality and operability) (C4) • **Recurrence** : once at commissioning • **Duration** : 30 minutes **Description** • For the correct telescope mode for SHARK-NIR find the offset direction and magnitude. **Prerequisites** • Atmospheric conditions: should be able to see bight stars on the sky (preferably close to zenith?). • Authorize SHARK-NIR on the SX side. • Target maybe a pair of stars (not too bright) separated by ca. 1arcmin (known value) **Procedure** • Send preset to the telescope. • Center one of the stars to the central pixel of SCICAM. • Issue the right offset to get the other star at the same pixel in SCICAM. • Return to the original star and verify the centering. **Success criteria** • The offsets produce telescope motions of the size and (particularly) direction expected. **Notes** • Steve Allenson can create a paddle for SHARK-NIR offset if this info is given to him. **LBTO support** • Support from LBTI/LBTO? • Presence of John Hill usually helps while collimating for the first time. • Steve Allenson (as the TO) will be a great asset too. **Associated SHARK-NIR personnel** • JF, LM, MdP, MM (from AZ), **Date performed and by whom**
