v3 v4 1 == P3.14 Astrometry plate scale and orientation==1 == P3.14 Sky background == 2 2 • **Phase** : 3 3 3 • **Status** : Draft 4 • **Category** : Nighttime Science Calibration (C5)5 • **Recurrence** : every night starting from commissioning6 • **Duration** : 0.5 - 1.0 hours4 • **Category** : Nighttime testing (functionality and operability) (C4) 5 • **Recurrence** : once at commissioning and then on request. 6 • **Duration** : 1 hour 7 7 **Description** 8 • Determine the astrometry of the science frame. Deduce detector on sky coordinates & plate scale from RA & DEC of a known multiple stellar systems. This calibration is to be done for a reference setup.8 • Acquire a series of sky backgrounds from science images, expected mainly when observing extended objects. A short sky background may also be useful for remaining deviant pixel removal. 9 9 **Prerequisites** 10 10 • Authorize SHARK-NIR on the SX side. 11 • Atmospheric conditions: AO working conditions. 12 • Bad pixel map, Background or Dark, Flat-field, distortion map 11 • Atmospheric conditions: AO working conditions??? 13 12 **Procedure** 14 • Observe multiple system(s) with known characteristics without the coronagraph 13 • Observe a blank field close to the science target (separation~10-20 arcsec) 14 • The same set-up as normal science observations but AO is not running and coronagraph may be removed. A list of telescope offsets is added to reach an “empty” field and jitter. 15 15 **Success criteria** 16 • Image scale better than 5 mas (goal 0.5 mas) over FoV, image orientation better than 3 arcmin (goal 18 arcsec)16 • 10% accuracy (dependent on measurement frequency) 17 17 **Notes** 18 • Same as activity 7. 1in AD418 • Same as activity 7.6 in AD4 19 19 **LBTO support** 20 • S upport from LBTI/LBTO?20 • SOUL-AO support 21 21 **Associated SHARK-NIR personnel** 22 • JF, LM, MdP 22 23 23 **Date performed and by whom**
