P2.5 TCS communication test

  • Phase : 2
  • Status : COMPLETE
  • Category : Daytime testing (functionality and operability) (C3)
  • Recurrence : after instrument installation at telescope platform
  • Duration : 1 day

Description

  • Check the communication between the LBT TCS and SHARK-NIR system.

Prerequisites

  • All electronics and services are up and running.
  • Some tests mentioned below may be performed remotely before the actual run (goal) or can occurr after handover, in case of availability of telescope due to bad weather.

Procedure

  • Test all the TCS functionality (sending preset, ADC trajectory, etc.) needed by SHARK-NIR, detailed in AD2.
  • Check if the fits-writer receives all the right values from the LBT TCS.
  • Check if the derotator trajectory is received from the LBT TCS. The trajectory verification with optical feedback will be done during the nighttime commissioning (or at twilight if availability during the run will be granted).
  • Re-check if SOUL can access the SCICAM image from the agreed-upon folder and test script with Alfio.

Templates

Success criteria

  • Connection to LBT TCS is working well. All the test results are successful.
  • The fits-writer is receiving all the right values from LBT TCS.
  • SOUL can retrieve the SCICAM image.

Notes

  • Alfio Puglisi is the contact point for the SOUL access to SCICAM images.

LBTO support

  • Authorize SHARK-NIR
  • Permission to use SX-ASM and LBTI-AO
  • Permission to send preset, receiving LBT telemetry (inc. the derotator trajectory) and details for the Fitswriter.
  • Support from the LBT SW team and John Hill for the TCS communication tests.

Date performed and by whom Davide Ricci is the contact point for this task. Tests will be spread in several days, ahead of Pre-com-3 and during Pre-com-3. SOUL test will be performed between Nov. 15th and 24th. No specific date was selected, but coordination with LBT was needed to connect to TCS, send preset and perform tests. It could be performed in afternoon/nights of bad weather, if allowed by scientists on duty that night/s.
