== P2.2 Installation of SHARK-NIR and its electronics on the LBT platform== - **Phase** : 2 - **Status** : Draft - **Category** : Installation of SHARK-NIR at LBT platform (C2) - **Recurrence** : once (unless deemed necessary to remove SHARK-NIR from the telescope platform) - **Duration** : 7 days (including 1 day contingency) **Description** - Aligned SHARK-NIR is prepared for the Big-Lift and installed on the LBT platform. - Installation of the electronics in the cabinets, cabling, and confirming the safety & security of the instrument and area. **Prerequisites** - SHARK-NIR is aligned and ready for the lift-off. - People required to access the electronics platform have completed the needed training **Procedure** - Look at the AD3 document for the detailed procedure. - SHARK-NIR and its parts will be ready on the high bay. These components may be moved through the hatch to the telescope or moved by elevator to the telescope - shelves: use elevators - rails: use elevators - calendered structure: use elevators - shark-nir bench+ bearing on its red handling: lift up through the hatch. - camera on a cart with wheels (with a window on the bottom): lift up through the hatch or use elevators - **Day 1** - Shelves installation. (Pag. 70-89 of Installation Plan: SHARK-NIR-INAFP-MAN-001_Issue2.1) - **Day 2** - 2 Rails installation. (Pag. 90-95 of Installation Plan: SHARK-NIR-INAFP-MAN-001_Issue2.1) - Installation of calendered structure on the shelves. (Pag. 95-111). At the end of the day calendered structure shall be secured to the shelves, otherwise it shall be removed, together with installation rails and procedure repeataed the next day. - **Day 3** - Install the SHARK-NIR optic bench on the calendered structure. (Pag. 111-141) - **Day 4** - Fix the cable chain. (Pag. 142-144) - Install patch boxes. (Pag. 144-145) - Fix cable from patch-boxes to instrument. - **Day 5** - Move the calendered structure at its final position. (Pag. 145-148) - SCICAM installation with MACIE already installed. (Pag. 148-163) - Installation of electronics and cabling from patch boxes to cabinets. - Prepare the deployable arm for its handling. (Pag. 164-171) - **Day 6** - Installation of the deployable arm. (Pag. 172-177) - Complete cabling. - Check movements of bearing, deployable arm, and shutter. - Cool down Cryostat. - Check the network connections and very basic functionalities after powering on. - **Day 7** - Contingency **Templates** **Success criteria** - SHARK-NIR is successfully installed on the LBT platform. - SHARK-NIR electronics are successfully installed. - Telescope is balanced. - Connect all the cables and secure them. - Reassure all the connections, nuts, bolts, etc. - Confirm the safety and security of the instrument and the area. **Notes** - Activities on High-bay and telescope. - Note that SHARK-NIR is NOT installed as a single piece. The cryostat has to be disassembled from the bearing before the installation can start. Please look into the AD3 document for details. - Note that othe Lakeshore of the SHARK-NIR electronics is installed within the LBTI electronics cabinets, the rest of the electronics is in the cabinet shared with iLocater. - check this link (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1r0SDiy9yBEfGQjDI6hCXT9hfRDRJ4dh4nNUZ3JHClJE/edit) for some details on the alignment day to day plan. **LBTO support** - Crew members' support for the preparation, lift-off, and installation of SHARK-NIR and its electronics - Crane operator (cleanroom, mountain bay, LBT platform) - Safety officer - Working platform installed in front of the Gregorian focal-station SX - Hatch door SX on the UIAP platform removed - Support for the installation of electronics in the LBTO cabinet - Liquid nitrogen fill - Vacuum pump to pump down cryostat (See activity P1.4 and P1.5 for more details) - Kindly check the installation document, AD3, for more details **Date performed and by whom** **Notes** Considering October timelines, as per LBTO information. Platform installation can start at 08:00 and takes about 40 minutes. 2 people can handle it. Platform use stops at 16:00, and dismounting takes about 30 mins. No extra crew is needed on the telescope during weekends for the platform, as the operation can be handled by personnel already available at the telescope.
